With the area of 340.15 km2, and population of about 158,765 people, Trang Bang district plays an important role in terms of economic development, national defense and external exchanges and the important gateway of the province. About 50 km away from Tay Ninh City following National Highway No. 22B, about 40 km away from Ho Chi Minh City to the Northwest following Asian Highway. The district shares the border with Cambodia with the length of 14.7 km.
Being the industrial and service centre of the province and located in the Western gateway of Ho Chi Minh City and Southern Key Economic Zone, therefore Trang Bang is called as the contact point of Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces in Mekong River Delta Region.
Being the place with may big industrial parks and industrial complexes of the province such as: Trang Bang Industrial Park, Linh Trung II Export Processing and Industrial Park, Thanh Thanh Cong Industrial Park, Phuoc Dong Industrial Park.
Considered as the land with many historical and cultural relics, the whole district currently has 17 relics ranked as the national and provincial historical and cultural relics, this is the potential for historical and cultural relic tourism of the district (Rong Forest, Khi Forest, An Thoi Tunnels, Binh Than Ancient Tower etc.). In addition, there is the eco-tourism: Vam Co Dong River, Sai Gon River; Cuisine tourism with the typical and traditional products bearing national trademarks such as: dew-dried rice paper, Trang Bang rice spaghetti, Shrimp salt; and traditional trade village tourism: forging, bamboo and rattan, rice paper, rice spaghetti.
Small-scaled industrial sector is the traditional trades in rural areas which are gradually restored and developed in terms of quantity, scale and quality, especially the rattan and bamboo, rice paper are joining the export market.
Encouraging the investment, expanding the development of traditional trade villages such as: Forging, rattan and bamboo; rice paper, rice spaghetti, shrimp salt etc.
