With the area of 860.97 km2, and population of about 97,771 people, this border district is located in the Northwest of the province; sharing 92 km of the border line with Cambodia and adjoining to Sai Gon River in the East which is separated with Binh Long Town, Binh Phuoc Province.
The border topography consists of forest next to forest, rivers and ditches and adjoins to 03 provinces of Kingdom of Cambodia. This is the location with specially important location in terms of political, economic, national defense and external exchange.
The majority of the area is forest. The soil conditions are very suitable for industrial trees and forest trees. Tan Bien has the natural land area ranking the second, after Tan Chau district, accounting for 1/5 of total area of the Province of which more than a half is the forestry land, mainly for planting crops: rice, sugarcane, cassava, rubber, pepper.
Tan Bien has the rich source of materials from starch and cassava starch processing by-products. In addition, there is a source of sliced cassava imported from Cambodia.
There are Xa Mat International Border Gate, Chang Rice Main Border Gate, 02 auxiliary border gates of Tan Phu and Tan Nam, Tan Binh commune with the ability to attract the big quantity of import and export goods (mainly including agricultural products) through Vietnam - Cambodia Border
